The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
